Welcome!!

Welcome to the Early Injury Assistance resource center!  You probably are here as a result of a call from someone on our EIA staff, but even if not the site should be useful to you.

This website provides basic information and helpful suggestions for people who have recently been injured at work and have just filed a claim for workers’ compensation benefits.  Please explore the rich information in this site and follow the suggestions.  We hope this will help you minimize the disruption your injury caused and get your life back to normal as soon as possible.

Workers' compensation has many complexities, but most injuries are resolved fairly simply.  This website is designed to help you see the big picture and understand what happens most of the time – not to describe every detail and possibility.  (See the disclaimer.)  There are many resources elsewhere to help you if your situation eventually becomes more complicated.

To get the most from this site, we suggest you at least skim the materials behind each menu item at the top of the page, left to right.  Then you can go back for more details on what concerns you most.  There is a lot of written material to cover, so we recommend you don't try to get it all in one sitting - come back several times until you've made it to the end.  Read Note the "breadcrumb" menu at the top left of the page, which will let you easily get back to the home page menu and jump around the site.

The site materials include an overview of workers’ compensation and your role in this situation.  There is also advice about how to play your part to make things go smoothly and make sure your functional recovery is as complete as possible.  And there are suggestions for how best to cope with the impact your injury may be having on the rest of your life.  If you want, you can link from here directly to the main BWC website to find out more details or even look up the status of your own claim.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation exists to make sure you get the medical care you need as well as any other benefits you deserve after a workplace injury.  We want you to have the best possible experience with us.  Contact your Claims Service Specialist (CSS) at 1-800-OHIOBWC (1-800-644-6292) with any questions or concerns you have - they will be happy to help you.
