About the Early Injury Assistance (EIA) Pilot

BWC regularly explores ways to improve delivery of services to Ohio workers and employers.  BWC knows the workers' compensation system is complex and can seem overwhelming to a newly injured worker.

The Early Injury Assistance Pilot is an innovative program designed to improve outcomes for injured workers.  It is being tested with a small group of newly injured workers to verify that it works, and to learn how best to provide the service.

In the pilot, a small group of recently injured workers will be receiving a single phone call.  Early Injury Assistance staff will offer a simple overview of the system, explain what will happen and why, address common needs that newly injured workers tend to have, and give basic advice on how to deal with any immediate concerns.  The phone call is followed up with mailing and/or emailing a set of useful of useful documents to the worker.  Some workers will receive additional follow-up calls to help cope with particular problems they are concerned about.

This website provides materials to support and expand on these calls.

Note that these calls provide general information about workers' compensation in Ohio, not specific information or status about any given claim.  Workers should contact their assigned Claims Service Specialist (CSS) at BWC or assigned case manager at the MCO for specific questions on the details of their claim.

The pilot is being conducted in a joint effort with Webility Corporation , a group that has worked nationally and internationally for over ten years to help improve outcomes for injured workers - to help minimize the disruption to workers' lives caused by a workplace injury.

The pilot is being conducted in the last four months of 2012.
